Second, Pope Benedict XVI is a magician of justice by making the decades of suffering of Irish victims of pedophile priests disappear via one papal letter and one ceremony of Penance this coming Lent. The Pope does not have to pay monetary compensation for the damages committed by those Irish Bishops and Irish pedophile priests. Those pedophile priests do not need to go to jail as long as they perform the magic of the Mass. All Benedict XVI has to do is maintain his daily royal ceremonies to keep investors intact at the trillion dollar Vatican Bank.
Benedict XVI was Cardinal Ratzinger who was responsible for the cover-up of the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army for more than 26 years during John Paul II’s glorious papacy. He is guilty [as Hitler was guilty for the Holocaust] for all these pedophile priests he is now condemning. There is no honesty in Pope Rat summoning the Irish Bishops to the Vatican. There is no honesty in his attempts to put things right. Why so?
Because in 2001 Cardinal Ratzinger, as he was then, rewrote the secret doctrine that instructed Bishops on how to deal with sex scandals. He tightened the rules and made sure all such cases were dealt with directly by the Vatican.
Had he truly been interested in improving the situation he would have torn up the thirty year old document, that instructed Bishops to use secrecy, bribes and threats of excommunication to shush up scandals and thrown it into the rubbish.
He would have instructed Bishops to take all such reports directly to civilian criminal authorities.
But he didn’t.
He tightened things up, tied up the loose ends and made a big attempt to push all this under the carpet and keep it there.
Now he is wearing the biggest tit in Catholicism on his head he can not escape the complete tit he made of himself with his actions in 2001.
Those actions have made him complicit in every rape of every child perpetuated by any Roman Catholic official or priest during the last nine years – and the cover-ups, which he personally oversaw.
Too little, too late, Pope Rat.
Get a life and review the facts. Child molestation is a horror by any group, yet too many voices have bought into the great lie that only priests were the abusers. Public employees, protected by powerful unions and state laws meant to shield entities from payouts, have been largely let off the hook, up to and including today.Then there are all the wealthy unaffiliated--doctors, lawyers, dentists, entertainers, who have been able to buy their way out of any culpability. Roman Polanski comes to mind...the press is actually defending his despicable acts, and the entertainment junkies, right along with them.
In a real world, too, one might want to take a look at how the horror of molestation was viewed as a "treatable condition" up until the 80's and early 90's. I know, I was one of those fighting to increase the penalties and awaken the public. Offenders were routinely found guilty of misdemeanors and allowed to have the record expunged after counseling. I would see page after page of convictions and grants of probation/deferred to counseling, for doctors, lawyers, teachers, firemen, coaches, rabbi's, pastors, priests, and family members.
If groups are going to rail against abuse, they should rail against them all, to do less is arbitrary, capricious, and simply bad form.
