Benedict XVI and his condom illusion

The Pope and those Opus Dei eunuch live lives of out-of-touch with reality at the Vatican golden Palace. So now Benedict XVI is in Africa to make some photo-ops with those poor Africans. After the pictures are taken and published, he goes back to the Vatican and party in Latin drugs with the Opus Dei rulers of the Catholic Church.

When the pope says condoms should be banned and do not help against Aids it puts him in the same category as Jehova’s witnesses who are prepared to let their childrin die because their FAITH won’t allow blood transfusions. (Rick)

When Jon Sobrino wrote to criticize that John Paul II's visit to El Salvador was a mere photo-op with the poor, Benedict XVI served him with ``Notification`` against his book... and the Opus Dei finished the job by serving him with the verdict of `Silence`which is as bad as excommunicaiton because Jon Sobrino is forbidden to speak or teach in public.`

We republish here taken from the John Paul II Millstone www.jp2m.blogspot.com

John Paul II and the Vatican supplied the El Salvadorian Army with the whereabouts and activities of religious people which made it easy for them to kidnap or kill these religious servants of the poor. The Jesuit President of the University of Central America was one of the victims of John Paul II's oppressive papacy and he was massacred by the army together with 5 other Jesuit professors and two female colleagues. This year on November 16, 2007 marks their 19th martyrdom anniversary.

John Paul II travelled around the world but he used the poor people as his props (like an actor and politician) and hardly knew their true conditions. He kissed babies left and right but he ignored the thousands of little boys (and little girls) - 12,000 in America alone -- sodomized by his papal-priests-pedophiles. http://jp2m.blogspot.com/2006/08/john-paul-ii-pedophile-priests-jpiipp.html In El Salvador, he suppressed the poor Crucified Peoples and the Jesuits Martyrs who were working for social justice - whose anniversary is November 16.

Below is an excerpt from Jon Sobrino's book that speaks of John Paul II's un-realistic papal attitudes and ignorant perception towards the poor. These are the paragraphs that made Benedict XVI issued the "Notification" and the Opus Dei Bishop of El Salvador "silence" Sobrino, meaning he can no longer teach or preach and help the poor to whom he has given all his life in service.

Witnesses to the Kingdom: The Martyrs of El Salvador and the Crucified Peoples

Page 141. Important ecclesial events, like a papal visit, are often organized in such a way that they too produce a feeling of unreality. In the Pope’s 1996 visit to El Salvador, it is true that most of the people who attended were poor. But all one could see of their reality was their religious enthusiasm, more or less effectively organized. One didn’t see their poverty, their fears, their discouragement and helplessness, not even their true faith and hope; one didn’t see their reality. As the event was organized, the poor served more as a backdrop than as the reality of the country; in the foreground were minorities that do not represent the reality: the government, legislators and politicians, the rich and powerful, and the Church beside them. The Pope’s visit neither reflected reality nor, to judge from the consequences, had any important effect on it.

On page 140. This applies to the allocutions and homilies of the Pope to the Congregation when he was an "adult-pope’. And that is still a serious problem: humanistas without sarx, factuality without reality (in the world of the poor). To give a few examples: one often gets a feeling of unreality from homilies, documents and messages that do not make central - although they may mention it - the poverty of reality, the injustice and corruption that cause it, and the cover-up that accompanies it. The feeling of unreality comes especially from the lack of commitment to get involved in the conflict, to struggle against injustice and to suffer the consequences. Words, words, words, as J. Comblin calls such messages in the article mentioned above. At another level, one gets the same feeling of unreality from a seminary formation that protects the seminarian from reality; or from the spiritualities and pastoral practices promoted or tolerated by movements that lead the human being into an a-historical transcendence with infantilizing consequences. Latest 2006 book on Ellacuria

Love That Produces Hope: The Thought Of Ignacio Ellacuria (Paperback)
by Kevin F. Burke (Editor), Robert Lassalle-Klein (Editor) "The figure of Ignacio Ellacuria, in its tremendous wealth, can be examined from a variety of perspectives..."

Book Description

Father Ignacio Ellacuría, S.J., president of the University of Central America, leading Latin American philosopher, and liberation theologian, was assassinated with five Jesuit companions and two women on November 16, 1989. Love That Produces Hope brings together leading authorities on key aspects of Ellacuría’s thought. The book introduces readers to the groundbreaking life and thought of Ignacio Ellacuría. His biography and writings embody late twentieth-century transformations and tensions that reshaped the life of the Catholic Church among the "crucified peoples" of Central America.

Love That Produces Hope evaluates the significance of Ellacuría’s work, particularly his impact on theology, philosophy, and education. Ellacuría found hope in his faith that God’s grace sustains the tenacious struggle of millions of men, women, and children to nurture those they love in the face of poverty and an uncertain future.

Benedict XVI Excommunicates Mother, Doctor Of 9 Yr Old Who Had Abortion But Not The Father That Raped Her

Benedict XVI and the Opus Dei are out of touch with life as they live in the Latin ecstasy (of the Palace of the Vatican that rivals the royals of Europe).

With their Opus Dei Latin prayers each Mass each day, they laugh at Jon Sobrino who works with the poor people of El Salvador. The Opus Dei and the Pope will never dirty their hands with the poor. But they silence and condemn the Jesuits who work with the poorest of Christ.

Dept: Abortion, Catholic Church, Religion

The Catholic church once again demonstrates the follies of organized religion.
A senior Vatican cleric has defended the excommunication of the mother and doctors of a nine-year-old girl who had an abortion in Brazil after being raped.
Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, head of the Catholic church’s Congregation for Bishops, told the daily La Stampa on Saturday that the twins the girl had been carrying had a right to live.

‘It is a sad case but the real problem is that the twins conceived were two innocent persons, who had the right to live and could not be eliminated,’ he said.

The regional archbishop, Jose Cardoso Sobrinho, pronounced excommunication for the mother for authorising the operation and doctors who carried it out for fear that the slim girl would not survive carrying the foetuses to term.
“God’s law is above any human law. So when a human law … is contrary to God’s law, this human law has no value,” Cardoso had said.
He also said the accused stepfather would not be expelled from the church. Although the man allegedly committed “a heinous crime … the abortion - the elimination of an innocent life - was more serious”.
Yeah. Good luck with that.

The Church also covered for several dozen (at least) serial child rapists. Lovely bunch the Catholic Church is.
Also, the Galileo deal was pretty shitty too. Oh, and the centuries of anti-Semitism. And sucking up to the fascists in WWDeuce. That was bad. Oh, and persecuting Gypsies (Roma). Right, and the Inquisition. That sucked. And gay bashing.
Indeed, a lovely bunch.
As for the ashes on the head. That’s just plain weird. Well, it is.

Brazil: Excommunications in case of raped girl, 9

The Associated Press
Thursday, March 5, 2009
RIO DE JANEIRO: A Roman Catholic archbishop says the abortion of twins carried by a 9-year-old girl who allegedly was raped by her stepfather means excommunication for the girl's mother and her doctors.
Despite the nature of the case, the church had to hold its line against abortion, Archbishop Jose Cardoso Sobrinho said in an interview aired Thursday by Globo television.
"The law of God is higher than any human laws," he said. "When a human law — that is, a law enacted by human legislators — is against the law of God, that law has no value. The adults who approved, who carried out this abortion have incurred excommunication."
Health Minister Jose Gomes Temporao rebuked the archbishop, saying, "I'm shocked by two facts: by what happened to the girl and by the position of the archbishop, who in saying he defends life puts another at risk."
Abortion is generally illegal in Brazil, which is home to more Catholics than any other nation. But the procedure is allowed when the mother's life is in danger, when the fetus has no chance of survival or in rape cases where the woman has not passed her 20th week of pregnancy.
Doctors said the girl was 15 weeks pregnant when the abortion was performed Wednesday in the northeastern city of Recife, where Sobrinho is archbishop. Health officials said the life of the girl — who weighs 80 pounds (36 kilograms) — was in danger.
The pregnancy was discovered last week when the girl fell ill and her mother took her to a clinic. The child then told officials she had been abused by her stepfather, who is in police custody.
A similar case in southern Brazil surfaced Thursday. Authorities in Rio Grande do Sul state told the O Globo newspaper that an 11-year-old girl allegedly raped by her stepfather is seven months pregnant.
The 51-year-old stepfather has been in jail since January while the girl is in a hospital for high risk pregnancies and apparently will not have an abortion.

Pope Benedict XVI embroiled in Holocaust row

03 February, 2009, 20:35

Pope Benedict XVI’s rehabilitation of a Holocaust-denying bishop is continuing to cause ripples in Europe and beyond. It is now being suggested by some that the Pope may share the views of Richard Williamson.

On the 24th of January, Pope Benedict rehabilitated the excommunicated Bishop Williamson to the Catholic Church. It came just days after Williamson cast doubt on the Holocaust in an interview with Swedish television.

Now some Catholics are calling on Benedict XVI to stand down as Pope.

If the Pope wants to do something useful for the Church, he should abdicate – some liberal Catholics in Germany are saying.

Criticism of the Pope is harshest in his German homeland, where Holocaust’s denial is a crime.

The Pope moved swiftly to dampen the scandal last week, expressing his “solidarity” with Jews and warning against any denial of the Holocaust. But this hasn’t placated the head of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, Oded Wiener. He sent a letter to the Holy See indicating a freeze in relations between Israel and the Vatican.

'Without a public apology from Bishop Williamson it will be very difficult for the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to continue its dialogue with the Vatican as before'.

Given this escalation in the rhetoric, the Pope’s visit to Israel, scheduled for this May, is unlikely to take place.

Papa’s place

The only way to get rid of a Pope is for the pope to abdicate or die in office. This is because the Pope's position as Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church is dogmatic and therefore is not open to debate or dispute within the Catholic Church.

It is enshrined in Canon Law 332 §2

"If it happens that the Roman Pontiff resigns his office, it is required for validity that the resignation is made freely and properly manifested but not that it is accepted by anyone."

This right has been implemented in 1294 when Pope Celestine V promulgated a Canon Law that established the right to resign the office of Pope. He exercised it within five months of his papacy. The last to exercise it was Pope Gregory XII, who tried to end the Western Schism in 1409.

In 2001 it was widely discussed that Pope John Paul II intended to resign due to his health. But it proved not to be true. He died in office in 2005.

Reaction on the internet
‘God chooses the pope – the cardinals are just the instrument he uses to do so.’

‘The Pope makes the rules, and it’s made pretty clear that only a pope can remove himself from power; no matter what, he is the absolute leader of the RCC.’

‘As he is the direct representative of Christ, so even accusing a pope of wrongdoing can be heresy.’

‘Step down at any time. Other than that – he is Pope until he dies. No checks and balances. He has the supreme power – answerable only to God.‘

Milwaukee clergy sex victims warn New Yorkers about Dolan, Benedict XVI's choice

Milwaukee clergy sex victims warn New Yorkers

They travel here as 'truth squad' about new archbishop

Self help group posts “open letter” to NY Catholics about Dolan

He’s the "same old, same old," victims say, but "with loads of charm"

SNAP predicts he'll keep even more secrets about NY clergy sex crimes

WHAT

At a sidewalk news conference, holding signs and childhood photos and other visuals, two Wisconsin clergy sex abuse victims will

-- release a critical “open letter to NY Catholics” about their new Catholic archbishop, blasting him for how he deals with pedophile priests,

-- discuss their extensive, first-hand experiences with him on child molestation cases,

-- describe 3 prevention & healing steps they want him to take before he leaves Milwaukee, &

-- urge anyone who saw, suspected or suffered clergy crimes to report to police, not the church

WHEN

Thursday, March 5, 1:30 p.m.

WHERE

Outside St. Patrick's Cathedral, 460 Madison Ave (at 5th) in Manhattan

WHO

Two Wisconsin clergy sex abuse victims who dealt with Archbishop Timothy Dolan and are leaders of a support group called SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAPnetwork.org) and several NY abuse victims and a leader of BishopAccountability.org, an independent research organization focused on the clergy sex abuse crisis.

WHY

During his six years in Wisconsin, victims and advocates report that Archbishop Timothy Dolan let known predators work in his archdiocese, refused to report accused child molesting clerics to police, and kept those who secretly transferred and protected pedophiles in high-ranking church jobs.

SNAP will release an updated, detailed two page report outlining Dolan’s specific misdeeds in Milwaukee, citing 27 cases that are public record. It cites 11 abusive Milwaukee clergy.

In just the last month, for instance, SNAP has ‘outed’ three credibly accused child-molesting clerics in the Milwaukee archdiocese whose crimes and whereabouts were essentially kept hidden under Dolan. One of them is a convicted sex offender yet apparently still a cleric ‘in good standing.’

Based on Dolan’s promises to root out sex offending clergy, many Milwaukee Catholics felt hopeful, just like many New York Catholics feel now. Their initial optimism, SNAP says, was quickly dashed. They argue that Dolan is a ‘master’ of public relations and symbolism, while quietly but effectively continuing to keep archdiocesan cover ups covered up.

One survivor who will speak was sexually assaulted by a priest as child in the Milwaukee archdiocese and has had extensive written and verbal communications with Dolan. The other, raped as a seven year old child by a Milwaukee priest, was chosen by Dolan to serve on the archbishop’s ‘Clergy Sexual Abuse Advisory Board,’ has also met personally with Dolan.

There have been 71 admitted clergy sex offenders operating in the Milwaukee Archdiocese over the past several decades with over 500 victims directly reporting to church officials.

Benedict XVI & Cardinal George of Chicago cover-up sexual abuse

“Don’t appeal new ruling,” clergy sex victims urge Catholic group

Chicago-based religious order is defendant in controversial Vatican case

Irish predator admitted molesting 3 boys here but was still sent to another school

SNAP also prods Cardinal to say how much he pays his lawyers in sex abuse cases

Figures released today show archdiocese spent $100 million on abuse over last 10 years

WHAT

After a sidewalk news conference, clergy sex abuse victims will try to hand deliver a letter to the heads of a Chicago-based international Catholic religious order which is a defendant in a controversial child molestation and cover up lawsuit against the Vatican. The letter asks the church group to

-- let a child sex abuse victim have his “day in court” against the Pope,

-- not appeal the new ruling that lets his case move forward,

-- stop fighting him by ‘exploiting legal technicalities,’ and

-- start aggressively reaching out to others who may have been hurt by the predator.

In the wake of newly released archdiocese spending figures, the victims will also prod Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George to disclose how much he spends on lawyers in clergy sex abuse and cover up cases and to stop using similar legal maneuvers to fight victims.

WHEN

Thursday, March 5, 1:00 p.m.

WHERE

Outside the US headquarters of the Servites, 3121 W. Jackson (just east of Kedzie) in Chicago

WHO

Several Catholics and clergy sex abuse victims who belong to a self help group called SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAPnetwork.org), including SNAP's founder and president

WHY

On Tuesday, a three judge appeals panel in Oregon ruled that an alleged clergy sex abuse victim can, for the first time, sue the Vatican. (It’s the first time in history that an individual victim has won this right.) The accused predator is Fr. Andrew Ronan, who admitted that he molested three Chicago boys at St Philip's High School in the 1960s. He was then sent to a Portland school where he abused again.

Victim advocates say that in a rigid hierarchy like the Catholic church, decisions come from the Vatican, so Rome should be held responsible for on-going cover ups of clergy sex crimes. They believe the case will help prevent future child assaults and cover ups of those assaults.

SNAP wants the Servites to stop “exploiting legal technicalities” and let the case proceed, especially because it has already drug on for seven years. They also want Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George to disclose how much he pays lawyers in clergy sex cases, and start defending accused pedophile priests on the actual factual merits, not on archaic legal maneuvers.

Benedict XVI & Vatican can be sued for clergy abuse,

Court tells St. Paul lawyer: Vatican can be sued for clergy abuse

By Paul Walsh, Star Tribune

Last update: March 4, 2009 - 10:24 AM
The Vatican can be sued for damages connected to clergy abuse allegations, a federal appeals court has ruled in a case argued by a St. Paul law firm.

The unanimous decision Tuesday by a three-judge panel in Portland, Ore., comes in the case of the Rev. Andrew Ronan, who committed the alleged abuse of a teenage boy in the 1960s. Ronan died in 1992.

"In a rigid hierarchy like the Catholic church, decisions come from Rome, so it's crucial that Rome be held responsible for on-going cover ups of clergy sex crimes," said attorney Jeff Anderson, who represents the unnamed plaintiff in this case and whose firm has handled many other cases of abuse by Roman Catholic clergy.

"This ruling sends a clear signal that anyone who enables American kids to be molested will face legal consequences," Anderson added. "It will help prevent future child assaults and cover ups of those assaults. It also signals that the Vatican is not above the law."

According to court documents, Ronan began abusing boys in the mid-1950s as a priest in Ireland. He was transferred to Chicago, where he admitted to abusing three boys at St. Philip's High School. He was then moved to St. Albert's Church in Portland, where he was accused of abusing the victim whose suit is now under appeal.

Tuesday's ruling affirms what Portland-based U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman wrote in 2006 that "the Holy See is not immune from suit" in a case involving a priest with "dangerous proclivities."

The defense had contended that the Vatican is protected from civil action under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.

Jeffrey Lena, a California attorney for the Holy See, noted that the appeals court ruling was the collective opinion of the appeals court rather than a single opinion, yet was accompanied by individual dissenting and concurring opinions.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

St. Paul lawyer takes on Vatican

By JEFF STRICKLER, Star Tribune

Last update: March 4, 2009 - 8:58 PM
A federal Appeals Court says the Vatican can be sued for sexual abuse if it knowingly reassigns priests who have been accused of such acts in their previous parishes.

"This decision kicks the door open for the survivors of these sexual predators to seek some measure of justice and to hold the Vatican responsible for its role in allowing these priests to continue their pattern of abuse," said Jeff Anderson, the St. Paul attorney who filed the suit.

The decision, announced Wednesday morning, was issued late Tuesday by the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Oregon. It upholds a ruling made by a Portland trial court. Anderson, an expert in priest abuse cases, filed the suit in Oregon because that's where the alleged abuse took place.

The Roman Catholic Church has 90 days to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.

"The next move is up to the Vatican," said Marci Hamilton, a professor at the Cardoza School of Law in New York City and a constitutional scholar whom Anderson brought on to help with the appeal. "We're either going to the Supreme Court or back to the trial court. Either way, we're ready."

Whatever happens, Anderson expects it to happen quickly.

"The Holy See filed an appeal [of the trial court decision] within 24 hours," he said.

The suit was filed in 2002 for an unnamed 49-year-old man who alleges he was sexually abused as a teenager by the Rev. Andrew Ronan. Ronan died in 1969. After uncovering evidence that Ronan had been reassigned after being accused of similar abuses in parishes in Chicago and Ireland, Anderson argued that the topmost level of the church should be held liable for damages because it is a hierarchy in which decisions flow down from the Vatican.

"The Vatican should be held responsible for the misdeeds of its employees," he said. "The church knew that he was an offender and had a proclivity to harm again, but his superiors chose not to stop him."

Pope Benedict is not being sued. The suit names the church as the defendant, but the pope could be deposed if the case reaches trial.

"It's time that the Vatican finally is held accountable for its role in this scandal," Anderson said. "For decades, they've issued instructions, they've issued protocol that has allowed priests to be moved across state lines and even international boundaries" after they've been accused of abuse.

The ruling applies only in the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court, which includes the West Coast, Alaska and Hawaii. A similar case is being argued in Kansas City, but other victims likely will wait to see how this case is resolved, he said.

The ruling is "persuasive but not binding," in other courts, Anderson said. "But with a good chance of going to the Supreme Court, it's going to end up touching every state."
