Benedict XVI's new pathological lie: "Pope in 1988 sought to remove abusers faster"
The pathological lies of Benedict XVI and his Vatican media-spinners are incredible. Today they came up with another pathological lie that "Pope in 1988 sought to remove abusers faster" and "While a cardinal, pope asked for swift action against abusive priests". Now if he really did that in 1988, why did Benedict XVI take such a long time to apologize and admit to the "sins" of priests (refusing to call them pedophile priests)? Why does Benedict XVI keep blaming the Devil and others -- except himself when he had so much power as Head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith? He used his power to silence Liberation Theology theologians like Jon Sobrino and Leonardo Boff but he never silenced or defrocked one pedophile priests among the thousands?? And why does he not defrock and excommunicate those 660 pedophile priests in Los Angeles whom Cardinal Mahony covered-up? Why does Benedict XVI not remove Cardinal Bernard Law (who admitted to transferring 80 pedophile priests from one parish to another) as Archpriest of St. Mary Maggiore?? Why did he call the New York Times expose on his cover-up of pedophile priests as “Cheap Gossip’ and went on to ridicule the media during Holy Week? And most of all why did he declare John Paul II a Venerable at the same time that priest pedophilia was erupting in Ireland?
1988 to 2010, that's a 22 years span that Benedict XVI has demonstrated his callous heart towards victims of the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army. Too late, Benedict XVI and your Vatican paid media spinners. You cannot undo history. The track record of Benedict XVI's actions speak louder than all the words your Vaticanistas and paid historians can ever do. John Paul II did absolutely nothing during his 26+ years papacy to stop priest pedophilia, Benedict XVI also did nothing as Head of the CDF for 2 decades! History has been written and cannot be undone by Vaticanistas!

Pope in 1988 sought to remove abusers faster
December 2, 2010
The Associated Press
VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican on Thursday released documentation showing Pope Benedict XVI sought as early as 1988 to find quicker ways to permanently remove priests who raped and molested children but was rebuffed.
A 1988 letter from then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger could serve as the Vatican's best defense to date that the future pope wanted to quickly remove pedophile priests far earlier than previously known but found himself stymied by church law.
The letter, republished in Thursday's Vatican newspaper, shows that Ratzinger complained that church law made it exceedingly difficult to remove abusers if they didn't request to be laicized voluntarily.
While a cardinal, pope asked for swift action against abusive priests

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- A newly disclosed letter reveals that as early as 1988, the future Pope Benedict XVI pressed for swifter and more streamlined procedures to punish priests guilty of "grave and scandalous conduct."
The letter, written by then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger when he was head of the Vatican's doctrinal congregation, expressed concern that the normal process for dealing with such priests -- which typically involved a request for dispensation from priestly obligations -- took too long and was seen more as a favor than a punishment.
Eventually, with Cardinal Ratzinger's involvement, the penal procedures were simplified and sanctions were strengthened. But in 1988, the cardinal's suggestion of a "more rapid and simplified penal process" was rebuffed by the Vatican's canon law experts.
Vatican newspaper: Cardinal Ratzinger pushed for swifter dismissal of abusive priests
December 02, 2010
In 1988, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger unsuccessfully sought changes to the Code of Canon Law in order to secure swifter dismissal of priests “guilty of serious and scandalous behavior,” according to correspondence published in the December 2 edition of L’Osservatore Romano.
Bishop Juan Ignacio Arrieta Ochoa de Chinchetru, the secretary of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, noted that in 1988, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith had the faculty of dispensing priests from celibacy and other obligations assumed at ordination. In a February 19, 1988 letter to Cardinal Rosalio José Castillo Lara, then president of the Pontifical Commission of Interpretation of the Code of Canon Law, Cardinal Ratzinger observed that some of these priests were “guilty of serious and scandalous behavior” and that the Code “provides for the imposition of certain penalties, not excluding the reduction to the lay state.”
“These measures, in the opinion of this Congregation [of the Doctrine of the Faith], should, in some cases, for the good of the faithful, precede the eventual granting of priestly dispensation, which, by its nature, is like a ‘grace,’” Cardinal Ratzinger wrote. “Some ordinaries meet many difficulties” in imposing canonical penalties on such priests because of the “complexity” of the Code’s procedures, Cardinal Ratzinger added, and thus he requested “more rapid and simplified procedures.”
